Welcome to White Rabbit Studios!
What began as a love for capturing people and places has evolved into a passion for providing top-notch film photography and cinematography to couples. Alongside wedding services, I love to offer lifestyle editorial and branding for businesses. Of course capturing portraits, families, and landscapes still provide me great joy!
I’ve had a brick and mortar studio located in Lowe Mill since 2007. In 2019, I expanded into a space three times the size and now offer a meeting area, shooting studio, and (hopefully soon) a darkroom inside my Airstream! Capturing imagery on film is very important to me and they key “look” to my images. I hope to provide educational outreach to folks looking to learn more about film photography.
Lowe Mill has been an integral part of my business as it has provided me the resources to open a studio, meet fellow artists, and connect with clients! It’s a wonderful building home to over 250 working artists, studios, independent businesses, and some of the best restaurants in Huntsville! It’s amazing being able to find so much inspiration in one place! It also provides me with unique backdrops to use outside of my physical space to expand the offerings I can provide for you! From old bricks to green space, to neutral walls, to huge windows and old wooden floors – every inch is lovely!
In 2018 I was presented with the incredible opportunity to capture The Scout Guide Huntsville thanks to Dawn, the editor! This has been SUCH a wonderful way for me to meet fellow local businesses in Huntsville and to expand my portfolio and expertise in capturing commercial work. As of 2023, we have published 6 guides! You can see all of the volumes here!
Feel free to get acquainted with me and my work and see how White Rabbit Studios can work for you!
Owner / Photographer / Cinematographer
My name is Ashley Vaughn and I am a photoholic and a visual storyteller. With a passion for film, your memories and emotions will be stored in emulsions for a lifetime. Every day I am inspired by love and how it radiates such pure joy and I’m honored to capture these feelings and tell the story of your life through my lens. With an unobtrusive nature and a careful eye, I aim to present timeless imagery for you to call family heirlooms.
I established White Rabbit Studios in 2009, yet I have had a camera in my hand since I was 8. I used to photograph my Barbies and stuffed animals. From there, it was my sister’s first birthday. Then, it was whoever was willing to pose with whatever wacky idea I had at the time. In high school, I started to take it a bit more seriously and developed my first true portfolio while learning my way around the darkroom. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft yet still follow the sage advice my dad gave me to “shoot what I love” – and I love love!
What equipment do you use?
Primarily film cameras! Yay analog! For still photography, my main work horses are 2 Hasselblads (500c & 500cm), 2 Canon 1Vs, and a Mamiya 645AFD. I also have an ever growing collection of fun film cameras including: Rollei, Yashica, Olympus OM, Pentax ME, Fish eye, Holga, XAs, Sylus Epics, Action sampler, Polaroid land camera, Polaroid 600, Pentax k1000, Savoy MarkII, Miranda, and a couple of Mamiyas (medium format). For Super 8, I mostly use a Canon 814XL and a Canon 514, yet have a plethora of others among my stash.
